Paul Harris Award
February 5th, 2021

Paul Harris Award Winner!!! The Menomonie Sunrise Rotary Club had the privilege to honor one of its members at the weekly meeting. President Elect Bethany Lewis presents Christina Mayer with her 8th Paul Harris Award.

Chris stated “I give to Rotary because individual Rotary clubs help local communities. Additionally, if we can eliminate polio through Polio Plus, that will change our entire world for the better. Rotary also supports water projects which change the lives of people in communities less fortunate than ours.  I also give to Rotary because, as a service organization, the funds go to the work of the charity rather than administration.”

Congrats Chris!

Food Bank Support

On Friday, May 22nd, Josh Gibson and several other Chippewa Valley Rotarians assisted the Feed My People staff in Eau Claire.  This was a "pop-up" food bank held near Carson Park.  Josh's effort, along with the other volunteers resulted in 211 families being supported with

boxes of food during this time of covid-19.

Thanks Josh; you are a great example for Rotary!

Community For Vets

Work continues on our Community for Vets project to add an additional bedroom.  This past Monday

found Gus Myran painting the exterior siding before installation.  Electrical work is completed and

this project should be completed in about 10 days.  That's good because the house manager already

has a veteran wanting to rent the completed room.  Thanks Gus!

Stepping Stones Donation

President-elect Jeremy Untz presented a check for $2,000 from our club foundation to Katherine Dutton,

the director of Stepping Stones.  That organization is seeing a huge increase in the number of city and county residents needing access to lower priced food.  Katherine was most pleased to receive the check and assured us that it will go a long way to help many in our community.  Thanks, Jeremy.

The Community for Veterans Home provides Veterans, recovering and incarcerated people who are transitioning back into the community from a controlled and/or traumatic situation.  They will have the opportunity to live in a sober environment with other men and women in recovery and work a personal transition plan of their choosing as they transition back into the community.
